DEFINITION:
Operates and drives mobile truck crane to lift and move an object into place as an Owner or Authorized Agent (OAA).

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS:
Positions in this class are characterized by responsibility of the skillful operation of heavy truck-mounted equipment to complete assigned projects. Incumbents receive supervision from an on-site crew supervisor. This position utilizes working knowledge of general construction and maintenance practices and a comprehensive knowledge of the most efficient and safe mechanical operation of diesel and gas powered heavy construction equipment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Operate and drives (OAA) truck-mounted crane, shovel, or Gradall.

Guides the Power Shovel Operator by using hand signals when the latter cannot see loads, keeping equipment clear of obstructions.

Inspects equipment and makes minor adjustments and repairs such as tightening loose bolts and nuts, replacing bucket teeth and hoist lines, tightening brakes, adjusting clutches, and replacing adapters.

Warn spectators to keep safe distances from operating equipment.

Keeps equipment mileage and maintenance records.

May drive truck crane between jobs.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
One year of driving or operating heavy transportation equipment, or construction equipment, or construction equipment of at least 28,000 pounds gross vehicle weight.

LICENSE:
A valid California Class A Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions. A special highway equipment endorsement may be required.

PHYSICAL CLASS:
4 - Arduous.
